Success Stories Eclipse the cat produced 5 kittens whilst being with us over the xmas peroid. Here is one of the kits, Kaela, now happily settled in her new home.

Hello my name is Katie and I'm very happy at home in Cowdenbeath with Anne and Jock. This is me relaxing on my garden path. I enjoy nice long walks with my Dad and Mum through the woods and parks here, playing with other dogs especially with my pal Abi and big hugs. My Mum is thinking about writing a diary on What Katie Did Next as I can be a bit mischievous! Thank you Help Fife Animals for bringing me here. | CHELSEARehomed with Wendy & Nick Jones in 1998. Excerpt from Wendy & Nick`s Whippet websiteGosh – where do I even begin. Chelsea is our salvation puppy!! There is just sooo much to te ll, both about her, and about what she managed to bring us through. In January of 1998 Nick decided that he wanted to get me a dog. The landlord okay'd it and we tried to find a mini-dachshund breeder (my breed back home in Canada). There were very few anywhere near us, and even the one that was only a few hours away wasn't breeding for at least another year, so we decided to broaden our horizons and look to rescues and see what was there. We called every rescue centre within a 40 mile radius and all they had was either little fuzzy dogs (yorkie types) or big GSD or Lab or Collie mixes. I have allergies and needed a short coated dog and we lived in a small flat so needed a medium to small dog and there was just nothing suitable (I also wanted a female). My new boss had just recently adopted a rescue puppy from a place about an hour or so away and he gave us the number which we called and they said they did have one female – a 12 week old puppy. They said she wasn't very pretty, but she was smooth, might be about medium sized. Probably wasn't what we were looking for but we were welcome to come and look at her. We made an appointment for the next afternoon; however, my back had been playing up badly for several months and the next morning there was just no way I was driving an hour so we called and cancelled the appointment – after all the lady had said the dog probably wasn't what we were looking for anyway. I couldn't get the dog off my mind and the next day I was feeling better so I called Nick from work and asked him to call and see if we could go see her (Nick was on holiday for 2 weeks at this point – part of why it was a good time to adopt if we were going to). We went that afternoon and there was this little tiny BEAUTIFUL smooth-coated golden puppy! She was adorable. I was willing to take her, but as Nick had never had a dog before I didn't want to just take her because she was the first dog. I gave her to him and he totally fell in love with her and said there wasn't a choice – she was ours! The lady at the centre pointed out one of her own dogs which I now know was a small sighthound and said that was probably the size Chelsea would grow into. They didn't know anything about her breeding except that the mom was a very wiry-haired terrier mix We adopted her on the spot – and while we were standing there deciding for sure the thought popped into my head that her name would be Chelsea. Had never thought of the name before – no idea where it came from, but that's what it was. |
Zara
Rehomed with Karin & Derek in 2002. Zara. The first time I saw Zara was when Anne asked me if I could foster a dog. As I had last dog a few weeks earlier, & was missing having a dog around the house, I said yes.The dog I would be fostering was a 3 1/2 year old long haired white Geman shepard dog. She was very timid and was scared of men. It took time & patience to build up her confidence. She was`nt used to being able to run around or playing, so we had to teach her. With a lot of help from Anne & Ian we managed to turn Zara into a (reasonably) well behaved & playfull dog. During this time Zara & i had started to bond, but I still wasnt quite ready to have another dog, but after six weeks of working with Zara, I decided that I would give her a permanent home, and I have not regreted it since. Zara is now 7yrs old & still fun to have around, there isnt a day goes by, without her making me smile. She is a fun & lovely dog to have around. |
Brig
Rehomed with Anne & Ian in 2005 Brig came to Help Fife Animals when he was just 5 months old. Anne and Ian McLean were looking for a long haired German Shepherd bitch at the time, but after fostering Brig for a wee while, they decided that this short haired boy would just have to stay. Brig has grown into a very big boisterous boy, full of fun and very loving. Brigs favourite passtime is swimming or paddling. |
Kain
Rehomed with Helen & Dave Kain was adopted by Helen and Dave from Montrose, when he was just 6 months old, and not quite as big as he is now. Dave and Helen also have Joy, a black Labrador who was a Help Fife Animals dog, before being adopted by them. Both Joy and Kain have started agility training, which they enjoy greatly. This Picture shows Brig & Kain.. Both dogs met for the first time at a competition in Camperdown park, Dundee |
Odi
Rehomed with Samantha & Gavin Odi was adopted by Samantha & Gavin from Tayport. Odi is getting on great in Tayport, He became part of the family the minute he got home. His favourite pplace is on the beach, although he is still a little scared of the waves. He has made lots of new friends whilst on the beach..Odi also enjoyed his holiday when we went camping, as we were on the beach, it was a hard job trying to get him to leave the beach & come back to the tent. |
MaisieRehomed with Jane Just over four years ago we got a lovely nine week old collie cross puppy from one of your foster homes at Balgeddie Riding School. We named her Maisie and she came to live with us and our two and a half year old golden retriever, Brodie, in Auchtermuchty. She has turned out to be quite a character and a super companion for Brodie who needs her to clean his teeth, ears, eyes and unmentionables! She also makes sure he gets plenty of exercise by pulling him around by the scruff when he is too slow or lazy and bringing him toys to fight with. We love her to bits. Thought you might like a few piccies. Thank you and keep up the good work. Hope you and all the animals have a happy and peaceful Christmas. Jane Robertson, Auchtermuchty |

Rileyrehomed with Kimberley This is a recent picture of Riley who I rescued back in October. He was one of 16 puppies who were dumped (born 11/8/05). Anyway, I thought you would like to see how well he has progressed and how happy he is now. He has brought so much joy to mine and my sisters life and everyone who meets him loves him. He is the most relaxed, laid back and chilled dog I have ever owned (that could be because his owner is a student though!!!). He has just completed his Kennel Club Bronze award and is the star pupil at training. We are working towards the silver, but Riley does have the selective hearing typical of labrador crosses :) He also has his pet passport so I am looking forward to lots of trips around the world with my gun dog trained dog (he also likes hiking too!!) Anyway, I just want to say thank you so much for allowing me the pleasure of giving this great dog a home. Please can you forward the picture and this e-mail to the wonderful people who looked after him and his litter mates (I have lost their e-mail address). I really am so greatful and it is honestly the best donation I have ever made! Kimberly Freeman |
Ty this is Ty (on right) who was re-homed by HFA recently , with his new sister Ebony. These two became firm friends within minutes of meeting. |
Max Rehomed with Jackie in 2006. .JPG) I got Max at 8 weeks old from one of your foster carers Mrs Reekie in March 2006, just to let you know that he is doing brilliantly and is great company to my other dog Sam who is 9 years old. Thankyou to your organisation and foster carers for giving us such a delightful addition to our family. |
Stella Rehomed with Karen & FamilyBriefly, what happened was me and my son Rory were followed home one day by a yorkie terrier. Rory was completely heartbroken that we had to take him back to his owner who lost him. That evening we recieved a phone call to say that Help Fife Animals had a litter of pups looking for homes. That was back in the spring and Stella is now 6 months old. I cannot tell you how much happiness she has brought this family. I never knew owning a dog could be so rewarding and heartwarming and I would like to thank your charity for giving us Stella. |
